Myofascial Taping according to Markus Erhard - MTME

·        Revolutionary diagnostics, strategy and approach

·        Normalise myofascial tension through the neuro- myofascial system

·        Control myofascial tension during movement

·        Outstanding and quick pain relief

·        Bring movement efficiency instantly

·        Prevent injury by revealing compensational patterns

·        Enhance movement and sporting performance instantly

The core of the MTME method is not just a new way of taping itself. The courses teach a new level of fascia orientated and movement efficiency orientated differential diagnosis of the neuro-myofascial system (NMFS) and related posture and movement patterns.

The courses teach a new understanding and a unique approach as a basis to find out the real deficits, and all the tension related and coupled dysfunctions of the NMFS, precisely.

Compensational tensions will be tracked and treated at its real sources and will be brought back to normal tension, instantaneously, within a split of a second.

With the same speed muscle function and motor control will be restored back to normal by functionally controlling the fascial receptors at any time and during movement.

Since the MyofascialTape® (other properties than kinesiology tape) is maintaining a normal myofascial tension DURING MOVEMENT, it can break vicious circles of dysfunctional posture and movement patterns and acute and chronic pain syndromes in a revolutionary and instant way. At the very moment the body experiences movement without pain or normal myofascial tension a lasting change is happening.

By MTME the NMFS is now not busy compensating but open and accessible for new, or more likely forgotten movement patterns that can and will be retrained, as you see and learn it on the course, which can be compared to new programming or restoring of efficient movement patterns.

Revolutionary analysis and treatment method for the neuro-myofascial system
The Myofascial Taping method is a unique, most innovative and revolutionary taping method, based on the regulation of the myofascial tension to restore myofascial balance by new unique myofascial taping techniques, restoring muscle function and controlling the myofascial tension in posture and during movement. This influence also rids the body of restrictions and reduces pain in an outstanding way, in most cases completely, in only one therapy session.

Since most of the effects are caused by the influence and control of fascial receptors, these outstanding outcomes happen withing a split of a second, which makes the course participants and the clients in clinic stun, even (or especially) if they have tried many other therapies before. They stun because it works so effectively and especially how quick it works.

After applying the required tapes, special movements will be used to re-programm movement paterns to make the efficient movement and freedom of pain long lasting and to prevent further inappropriate mechanics along the chain.

In the end, the focus of MTME is not on pain itself, but on the reorganisation of the neuro-myofascial system. That the pain mostly just disapears instantly is just a result of the instant change in myfascial tension. Normal muscle function will be restored and the joints will be working and function in a natural way.

MTME uses flexotape® - MyofascialTape®, a different kind a tape, unlike kinesiology or other tapes. Both the taping technique and the tape, although looking similar, cannot be compared to kinesiology taping or other taping techniques. Also the properties of flexotape® is unlike kinesiology tapes or other tapes.

Several thousand therapists, doctors, movement specialist around the world are already working with this unique taping method of Markus Erhard. Markus has been invited to many national and international congresses as keynote speaker and to many elite sport clubs for in-house trainings for the medical staff.

MTME – Course System
The courses teach the new approach to fascia, muscle and joint related pain, posture and movement patterns in a very practical and step by step way so that course participants can logically follow, learn and practice it to get confidence in the MTME method and to be able to use it for their clients and patients right after each course. MTME teaches how to break the vicious circles of acute and especially chronic pain and movement restrictions.

Each course builds on the previously learned so that the level of skill to be able to track and unveil and treat the sources of complex problems and clinical pictures by bringing together Body Reading, Movement Reading and MTME in a clear and structured way.

Course participants will learn new functional and neuronal connections of the NMFS, new screening methods and a totally new way of taping for all kinds of myofascial / musculoskeletal scenarios that can come up.
Acute and chronic pain and dysfunctions like low back pain, neck pain, back pain in general, migraine, impingement syndromes of the rotator cuff or hip, SIJ, Slipped discs, tennis elbow, movement restrictions etc. won’t be a long and hard challenge and task to tackle anymore but a possibility to show that behind all of these problems there are neuro-myofascial related tension and compensation patterns that can be sorted and pain free with fully gained movement often within one therapy session by MTME.

Experience the quick and powerful effects in your own body
In the courses all participants are not just students but also clients and patients.
Everybody has compensation patterns, even if they often are not so obvious, not even to therapy specialists. On the course every participant will see (measurable) and feel how MTME will normalise myofascial tension, bringing efficiency in posture and movement. This brings a powerful way of prevention of injury, inefficient patterns and pain because MTME can reveal problems and compensations before you can feel it.

MTME in Sports
MTME offers athletes a new way of analysis of fascia related tension and movement patterns that are crucial for the sporting performance, recovery and injury prevention. MTME is not only a great new way for differential diagnosis but in the same time offers the therapeutic solution after injury and problems often leading to injuries or overuse can be revealed and eliminated before they happen. One of the most important advantages for sports is that the effects (control of myofascial tension, pain relief, increased max force, increased ROM, etc.) are maintained, during any movement 24/7 - less risk of injury, better performance.

Elite Sports Clubs trust in MTME and Markus Erhard personally
Markus Erhard is teaching the medical staff of elite sports clubs of all kinds of sports, especially clubs of Premier League Football, German Football Bundes League, Swiss Football Super League and rugby clubs and rugby and football national teams. It certainly is not just for football but for all kinds of sports and movement and for every wanting a pain free and efficient movement in everyday life, for all people all age.

Revolutionary Pain Relief
The most valuable effect of MTME is the quick and outstanding pain-relieving effect for acute and chronic myofascial pain syndromes, leading to a pain freer posture and movement - usually within one session which can give also hope for those given up.

Evidence based
Profound theory and scientific studies will be presented on the course, which show the significant and highly significant effects of increased maximum muscle force, increased ROM, improved proprioception and pain relief.

Target group
MTME is aimed for all physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiro practitioners, body workers, occupational therapists, doctors, sport scientists, personal trainers, s & c coaches, movement therapists and people with different backgrounds that want to experience, understand, and learn the unique approach way of treatment of the whole NMFS by MTME.

This is not kinesiology taping
Participants have to start with the foundation course, no matter how many courses one might have attended in kinesiology taping or other taping methods, since there is NO similarities to other taping methods!!! It is a completely different approach and techniques with totally different effects and RESULTS!!!

The course fees include:

Myofascial Taping - Controlling the Myofascial Tension

Within the last few years, various approaches in therapy are fundamentally changing. The main reasons for this are the “new” results from fascia research. They show that fascia plays a much more important role than previously believed. Fascia has influence on pain (Vleeming, A. et al; 2010, Panjabi, MM, 2006; Erhard, M., Brown, J. 2009), attitude (Myers, T. 2009), motion (Erhard, M., Brown, J. 2009), force transmission (Huijing, P, 2007; Myers, T. 2009; Vleeming, A. 2008; Miller, F. 2009), proprioception (Stecco et al., 2009; Van der Wal, 2009; Erhard, M. 2007) and sports performance (Erhard et al., 2011, 2013).
Gradually, these results have started to change the way we diagnose, evaluate, approach and treat musculo-skeletal problems.

Fascia is often the source and solution of myofascial problems
because myofascial pain syndromes are predominantly depending on the myofascial tension.
Markus Erhard's taping method presents new therapy approaches that have been developed referring to the latest scientific results of fascia research.  The philosophy, approach and techniques for treatment and injury prevention have intense effects on the fascia to rid the body of restrictions, dysfunctions and especially to reduce pain, significantly.

Markus will speak about the “language of fascia” and will explain how physiological effects are achieved and why physical health, posture, and efficient movement are highly dependent on a balanced myofascial tension.

But most valuable of all the new techniques is a quick and outstanding pain-relieving effect for myofascial pain syndromes leading to a pain free posture and movement.

The difference to Myofascial Taping according to Markus Erhard (MTME) and kinesiology taping or any other taping method

A unique method

“What is the difference between Myofascial Taping according to Markus Erhard and kinesiology taping or other taping methods like K-Taping, Rock Tape / Rock Taping, Medical Taping, Dynamic Taping, etc.” is one of the most frequently asked questions we hear.

Here is a short summary of some of the major differences. There is way more I could write because MTME really IS that different.

The techniques that create that unique myofascial release that normalizes muscle and fascia tension via special techniques addressing fascial receptors and offloading fascial tissue, shifting it towards a certain (“the right”) direction, mechanically, therefore facilitating tissue and body movement. These effects that you see and feel are different to other effects from other taping methods. So you find these special mechanisms and effects only in the Myofascial Taping method according to Markus Erhard (MTME).

If you don’t treat the fascial tissue in this very specific way, with a very specific MyofascialTape® you don’t get this unique, intensive and instant normalized myofascial tension / release effect.

In kinesiology taping or other taping methods they could argue that they also do have fascial or myofascial techniques, creating a myofascial release. But it is definitely not the same.

You have to differentiate what you define as a myofascial release or how you’d describe these special effects in MTME.

There are various processes that are part in creating myofascial release(es). And kinesiology taping also create a myofascial release, but a totally different one, that cannot be compared with the MTME.

So no matter what you would call a certain technique, it is up to what happens with the fascial tissue and how the receptors react to it and thus influence muscle and fascial tension in a split of a second.

In first instance, it is not about taping, but about understanding fascia and the neuro-myofascial system and the influence on pain, posture and movement. This understanding and the approach that comes with the reasoning behind it are also NEW in MTME.

The myofascial release that is created is not at all depending on the colour of the tape. Neither the wave-like wrinkles (convolutions) are important in MTME.

What’s crucial, is the specific shifting of the tissue at specific spots. In first instance, this is a mechanical effect that will change the tension in the tissue. This will influence the receptors, and that will change the neuronal activity of the receptors. The fascial tissues needs to be shifted at the right spot, towards the right direction, with enough tension on the tape. Only the specific shifting of the tissue will result in the special release effect seen in MTME, that will change the neuronal muscle tension, and off-load myofascial structures enough to change the muscle function, thus enhancing the quality and range of motion, all together reducing pain, significantly. It is crucial that one shifts tissue enough with the tape in order to reach certain thresholds of the receptors; otherwise the special release effect, seen in MTME, will not be achieved.

If you do shift enough at the right spot, towards the right direction the myofascial tension will be reduced (normalized) within a SPLIT OF A SECOND!!! (in case the myofascial tension was higher than normal before taping). Posture and movement will be powerful, well controlled, without restricted ROM and with reduced pain or in most cases with no pain at all.

MTME (Myofascial Taping according to Markus Erhard) is not kinesiology taping with just a new name. People usually cannot understand how big the difference to kinesiology taping or other taping methods is, until they see or feel it or have attended a workshop or seminar where they can witness the effects live at participants and patients, and feel and learn how to reproduce these effects every time they apply MTME.

After teaching over 10000 therapists like physiotherapists and osteopaths, and doctors etc. there was not one person who said that he knew about MTME in real or that it would be alike other taping methods.

Myofascial Taping does not work with kinesiology tape

Even the tape is different. But it is hard to distinguish this NEW method and NEW tape from others because it also uses coloured and elastic tape, which makes it look so similar or even the same sometimes.

flexotape® - MyofascialTape® has the Active Fascial Shift – Effect,

i.e. the tape has less recoil force than kinesiology tapes. This feature allows that the fascial layers can be shifted into the same direction as the tape is pulled during application.

The fascial layers can be shifted with as much force as needed in order to meet the thresholds of the different fascial receptors (Golgi, Pacini, Ruffini, and interstitial receptors).

Regular kinesiology tape has usually too much recoil force and cannot shift fascia enough into the same direction they are applied, but pull back instead.

No matter how many different taping courses one has attended, and methods one has seen or learned, this one is so much different. It is worth to attend for every professional working in the field of therapy, injury prevention and sports performance – for everyone that wants to make posture and movement efficient and pain free. Not only for a short period of time – but for a long time.

The reason why we do have so many different tape colours is because we from the Physio Training Academy and especially Markus Erhard is teaching many therapist and doctors from elite sports clubs or national teams that need tape colour matching to their club or jersey colours.

Convince yourself and see and learn a new dimension for efficient and pain free movement.
